End of an Era!

First and foremost I want to thank all my well wishers for the overwhelming love. 4000+ members on TGCF! Quite a feat! Congratulations to the administrators for running the page so efficiently. The meticulously put together information, the prompt answers to any queries by members, the photos dug up from the immense mess that is the internet... quite a task! It is almost like a full time job! I thank you for spending your valuable time informing the world about my work. And I thank all members for their most valuable comments on the page. Rest assured I go through each and every one of them if and when possible. They are very precious to me. I can never aptly describe the joy that it gives me to go through all that you have to say, good or bad.

I cannot deny that Star Jalsha has given me a lot of firsts. The latest first is an award. The Star Jalsha Parivaar Award for “Shobcheye Priyo Kholnayok”. Though this is more of an in-house award, it does not cease to be my first. It will always be very special to me. I was a bundle of nerves as I went up on stage to accept the award. I don’t even remember what I said! I’ll have to try and catch the telecast to know exactly what happened. Here goes a photo of the award.

Adwitiya... Well there is so much I want to say but words fail me at this moment of emotional upheaval. It is indeed the end of an era for me. I have been a part of this unit since May, 2010, that is, since Gaaner Oparey began. Almost 2 years. It’s as if I’m graduating from college! Hahaha... The time spent with this unit will remain special to me for as long as I live. When Gaaner Oparey ended we were sad but then again there was Adwitiya coming up. With the same unit. But this time there is nothing in store for the moment. It is a terrible feeling to see what had become a family, separate and go their different ways. Adwitiya will be very special to me for having had a chance to play such a complex, unpredictable, devilish man like Robi Kiran Chowdhury. Like I have said before, it will be a character very close to my heart forever. I have enjoyed each moment of being this man. 24th February 2012 was our last day of shoot. The last episode looks to be a very emotional one. Let us hope it will stir your hearts as it has ours while we have shot it.

Now for some information!
I have noticed that your continued support has resulted in a great number of votes for me at the International Bengali Film Awards website. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have a small piece of news regarding this event. I have just received a letter from IBFA stating that due to unforeseen circumstances, the event has been postponed from March 2012 to May 2012.
Laptop is due for release in April. Let’s hope the pre-release publicity starts soon. I’m sure you’ll have access to any new information regarding the release of the film courtesy the able administration of the administrators of TGCF!

The second schedule of Ashbo Arek Din will fall during the first week of April. I am looking forward to spending some quality time with another unit that is very close to my heart.

Thank you all once again for everything! I leave you with a photo from the first look test that we did for Adwitiya! Hahaha... Please excuse the quality. The original photo was clicked by ace photographer Sanat Ghosh. I clicked it from his computer. Enjoy!

Hahahahahaha...that 'look test' photo is just too cute; all three of you look too innocent to be the Robi, Adwitiya and Chand that you were onscreen :D Jokes apart, thanks a bunch for the photos. Feel so proud to see the award that you so deserved. As for the end of 'Adwitiya', we are all pretty morose that it's ending, but then again...all good things come in small packages, and that's how they leave lasting impressions I guess. Robi Kiran too has already secured permanent berths in the compartments of our hearts, no matter what fate has in store for him on March 2nd :D

Thanks for the heads up about IBFA. There too, we are really hoping we can secure that award for you, whenever that ceremony happens. In the meantime...hope you have a fun and fulfilling outdoor at Bhutan. "Laptop" has already created a buzz among cinema lovers, thanks to its festival outings, and with a little more promotion, should do fabulously. We'll provide all the support we can, as always, and forever.

It's always a great pleasure reading your blog, Gaurav-da. Take care...and enjoy your well-deserved break!

Firstly... a huge congratulation to you for the award.. you really deserve it. After 'prodipto lahiri' in GNO, you played 'Robi' with such elegance that we can never ever forget that. It proves your versatility. In the history of bengali television, I think this is the first time that a negative character has gained this much of admiration and the award 'sobcheye priyo khalnayak' efficiently proves that. Thanks to you for making Robi so wonderful to watch and remember. For me atleast, Robi was the USP of Adwitiya. The 10.30 slot at every night from monday to friday is going to become boring again. We are gonna miss Robi so much..

As for 'Laptop', we are eagerly waiting for that. We really can't afford to miss your secong silver screen venture. We know that you are gonna shine in that too. :) After the outdoor at Bhutan, hopefully you will be in Kolkata during the Laptop premiere.

Regarding the IBFA, we are very much confidant that its you only who is getting that Promising Face award. We are doing our best to make you feel proud again. :) and we'll continue doing that forever, and always...

Lastly, as a member of TGCF, I would like to thank you from the core of my heart for such a wonderful post and also for recognizing our efforts in the forum. Actually we can never thank you enough for this because you have no idea how much you inspire us with such gracious gestures of yours, to pour our hearts out there, to give you full support. Its our pleasure to devote that much time and efforts to collaborate informations on you because you truly deserve all these. On behalf of the Admin and every member of TGCF, I wish you good luck for your future.. Do come back soon on TV with another superb character.. waiting for that.. :) and please write more blogs.. And remember.. we are always there to cheer for you.. :)

Take care.. :)

The serial was short and well structures, primarily because of the powerful plot and the strongly defined characters that held it together.

I do not know the reasons why the show is being pulled off, but I mourn the demise of the serial as it was so watchable and thoroughly entertaining. I was a huge fan of Ganer Opare too.

Is it a reflection of the lack of good taste that we see serials like this, which are truly quality content bite the dust.. and if i am not guessing wrongly.. its the TRP war? If so, perhaps the only remedy is to bombard the media with so much good content that people see the stark contrasts and convert... but for that we need a channel or a vehicle that will air the content..

Can we do a webcast revolution? If a consortium of Bangla artistes set it up so many of us will subscribe and you can get advertising based on eye ball hits..just a seed I am planting in your heads.. kolavery was a huge hit because it was viral.. with technology at our doorstep, can good content in Bangla also not be so?

This is not an exercise in rhetoric..if the audience demands it, TRP or no TRP, media has to come along.

Your work is stellar, and i am sure you receive enough kudos to understand that it is so. looking forward to more entertainment!

First of all I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this touching blog!It is really nice of you to take time out of your hectic schedule n write this beautiful note for us! :)
A hearteous congratulations for the 'sobchey priyo kholnayok' award..really happy that finally your work has been officially appreciated!Maybe this award is given from star jalsa, but afterall this is the first award n so it will definitely be a special one always, not only for you but also for us. :)
Regarding 'Adwitya' ,honestly i would like to say that the sole reason for me to watch the serial was Gaurav Chakrabarty..You were just brilliant as the much hated n yet loved 'Robi Kiran Chowdhury'.it was a pleasure to watch your performance!! the oscillations of emotions were brilliantly potrayed by you! At times,I actually had doubts whether you are so sly n cunning in real life too because it never seemed that you were acting!Really have no appropriate words to describe your work..it is so nice to see your love n dedication for work n this shows in your acting also! :) :)
Frankly speaking,I'll not miss 'Adwitya' so much but will definitely miss Robi Kiran Chowdhury n your performance..it is really sad that from 3rd march i'll miss the pleasure of seeing you act out the role. :(
I empathize with you completely..its really hard to move on in different directions after working together for 2years..the unit becomes a part of your family as our school was.But then there is an end to all good thing,as we all have seen when we left school. But I guess, this is how everything works. So don't feel bad about it.I know its really hard but you can always give it a try.I am sure in future you all will get back together and give us some more wonderful serials(like Gaaner Opare,Adwitya) n well-created characters(like Prodipto Lahiri,Robi Kiran Chowdhury) !! :) :)
On this note,I would like to wish you the very best for your future assignments n keep up the good work..Be happy always!! :) :)
